Today Was Frosh Prank Day

So today, after taking a completely demoralizing midterm (Phys 23 w00t!), I arrive back at the dorm with the dorm speakers blaring music (a bit unusual for this time of day, but I can deal with i) and the suggestion that I visit my room. OK, I was kinda going that way, but whatever. I walk upstairs to my room and find it surrounded by a group of people, with some holding cameras…OK, something’s gonna go down, and I have a feeling I’m gonna be in the middle of it - oh well, better just clench my butt cheeks and push through it. As I approach the door, I notice the letters “NSFW” written on the door. Well well, now I know that whatever’s going to happen is going to be dirty - just like I like it. As I insert the key into the door, I can feel the eyes on me. As I turn the key and swing the door open, I could only stand at the foyer and stare in slackjawed amazement - I had been porned.

Apparently, damn near every frosh was taking that test, giving the upperclassmen one hour to break into the frosh dorm rooms and transform them into whatever they so desired. Some people’s rooms got changed into an island getaway; others a brothel -  with books on great sex, lots of lube, and a vibrator. A larger group got their things moved into a common space, like a dorm longe or courtyard. One person got their room “Pinked”,  that is, everything they had was made pink or removed - from their clothes to their bedsheets; and finally one person (guess who) got their room “Porned”: everything was covered in porn, from the walls, to the lights, to the pillowcases, even to the shoes, pillowcases and air conditioner vents. Supposedly the attention to detail and creativity to hiding the porn results in finding it as you pack up for the next year. After getting over the initial shock (or should I say amazement), I had thoughts about leaving it up for a while, maybe even the year, but my roomate had different thoughts.

Oh well, I hope I get to do it to a frosh next year - after getting rid of the over-50 and gay porn, most of it was pretty nice, and I want to know where they got it from.

Planned Obsolescence

I was quite happy at 4:00 PM today. That was because I had just recieved my Xbox, which I had been waiting on since the semester started, about two months ago. Brimming with boyish delight, I insert my copy of Burnout 3 - my favorite game - and sit back on the lounge couch ready to play for “an hour max”.
But I never got to play Burnout 3. Wanna know why? My DVD drive had finally died. After close to six years together, my DVD drive decided to give up on me on one of the days I needed it most.
I quickly jump into doctor mode and succintly hacked it open, spraying everything with compressed air, including the inside of the drive. But nothing worked. Finally, hours after beginning my heroic, yet ultimately doomed attempt to resuscitate it, I finally gave up.
They say that when a loved one dies, you should focus on the time spent together instead of their death.

No.

Fuck that.

Planned obscolescene is for pussies. I want my Xbox back.

It started out simple

I just wanted to go down to the lounge to check for my phone. How was I supposed to know it would devolve into an almost three-hour game of Contact? God am I glad I don’t have to wake up tomorrow.

Fall Break

From last Saturday to Tuesday is Fall Break, Harvey Mudd’s way of treating the stress you go through in the first quarter of a semester. Mine so far has been pretty nice, mostly because I’ve been doing nothing, staying up till five in the morning, and waking up at three in the afternoon. I wish it was a few days longer.

My Weekend

It ROCKED. Well, the weekend’s not over yet, but it can’t possibly get any better now. So, to interest all my 0 readers, I will go over it all:

  • Friday was Suds, a party with - you guessed it - lots of suds and foamy bubbles. and it rocked. I danced, which is something I never do and makes me proud to come out of the last vestiges of my shyness.
  • Saturday was the Formula D finale at Irwindale. I have been wanting to go to a Formula D event since 2007, but have never had the time. For someone who wants to get into the sport professionally,it would behoove them to look at what they’re getting into, right? Anyway, it was AWESOME. I think I was spoiled because I usually went to smaller events where you can get closer to the cars, but you could still hear them and smell the tire smoke, so it was all good.

Anyway, that’s all for now.
