I finally decided to delete my Myspace account because I haven’t been on it in years and I have no friends so I don’t need a social network account. Now this isn’t that big of a deal in its own regard, but as one of the 17 hoops they make you jump through to actually delete your account they ask you why you’re deleting it, and aside from the normal choices like “I don’t need it anymore” and “I’m tired of getting friend requests from attention whores” they actually had “Myspace is too much drama.” The fact that they would let you essentially say “Everyone I have ever found on here is a preteen” just made me laugh so hard.

Kicking The Habit

For like the third time this month (I started this round in July so I’m still calling it then) I’m managing to kick myself off caffeine. And my head has been pounding for the past two days. Neither water nor sleep makes it stop. I don’t know why I do this to myself.

Computer Problems

My laptop’s power brick died yesterday. I wish the part that had died was the one that plugged into the wall and I had like three copies of in the house…but it’s alright. I was the sucker that bought the extended warranty, and it’s actually managed to work out! Cost of the warranty was less than the power cable so it’s paid for itself, now I just gotta go without my computer till Friday…

Did You Know…

…that the AJC Auto Show was last week? I didn’t until Thursday, I was wondering when it would happen – there wasn’t any sort of advertising until Friday. Anyway, I went on Saturday. Didn’t see that many cars I would want to buy if I had the money, including the Lexus LF-A. I did, however, see quite a few cars that make me want to join whatever company loads them into the convention center. Back to things I could drive, I tried the Ford Raptor Challenge sim again but Couldn’t do better than 63 seconds; I also drove the Ford Taurus SHO sim, which had the worst physics in any racing game I have ever played – and I’ve played both early Ridge Racers and Sega GT 2002. I managed to set the best time, but only after asking the guy who set the original best time how he did it and him telling me to not break for any corners.

I’m still pissed about not breaking 60 seconds in the Raptor sim, though.

Back to the show – not many interesting cars, cars I would thinking about test driving weren’t out yet, and the Ford robot was nowhere near sarcastic enough. Oh well, maybe next year.

Grammys

I caught the tail end of the Grammys last night, and I kinda wish I hadn’t. I mean, partly because the fact that it only awards popular music instead of good music (and yes, I realize I’m being somewhat of a hypocritical asshole saying that both popular music isn’t good and good music can’t be popular), but mostly because when Taylor Swift won the Album Of The Year Grammy, nobody pulled a Kanye. SERIOUSLY – perfect setup. I was praying for it.

PS I’m listening to Slimm Calhoun right now, you can’t say I only like good music.

Hardly Working

I’ll just summarize the past couple days since I’ve got to be getting on to class: I’m getting in to rock climbing, and got belay certified on Monday. I entered a poker tournament that got held last night and got eighth out of 40, as high as I got when I played at Mudd. However, most importantly I managed to fall into a position working IT for the Finance Society here. I say it’s most important because I was led to believe that it would be paid, and I could really use some spending money since I haven’t heard back about a gig laying Cat5. Anyway, time to go to class.

School Daze, Part 2

So in order to get back into Mudd I’m taking some classes at Georgia State. Now if you know anything about Georgia State, you would know it is big. 30000 students big. And it’s sitting on what must be about half a square mile of real estate. So with that many students here over that much ground, not to mention the fact that the buildings are more than one story as well, the odds of me meeting anyone I know are pretty slim, right? I thought so – until I met someone I knew in my first class. Seriously. The odds? Mind boggling. Not to mention that I met someone from high school walking into the student center today.

Sparkfun Free Day

I had planned on doing it for about three weeks since they announced. Unfortunately, so did the rest of the internet. I admit I went in unprepared – not having the cart set up last night, not creating an account prior, thinking that not that many people would know – but I don’t think I could have been prepared for what was essentially a voluntary DDoS. I wish I could’ve picked up an Arduino and multimeter, but whattayagonnado, right? Oh well, there’s always next time.

Okay, it’s five more minutes before the ball drops and ends this decade forever, and as I check my resolutions last year, I realize what a lazy, unmotivated bastard I’ve become. This decade, I will not let that happen. Now, before this new decade comes in, I’m going to list my new resolutions:

Work out more
Be more responsible with my money
Get my mind right on school, again
Blog more often.

Winter Cleaning

For some reason, I decided to get off my ass at around 1:45 AM and organize my magazines like I’ve been wanting to do for a couple weeks now. I dunno, cocaine’s a helluva drug. High off the excitement of finding my flash drive that I thought I lost months ago, I decided to wash the dishes for the second time today. And collect all the trash around the house and put it in the trash bin.

Black Saturday

I managed to check out the last drift event of the season at Gresham Motorsports Park today. I wish I could have found my camera to take pictures, but whattayagonnado? I unfortunately had to leave before the competition began, but before I left I managed to catch a ride with Sammy Tiger, and now I think I’m preggers – he’s just that awesome. I can’t wait for next year – maybe I’ll find a job that can help me pick up a camera.

I left on Wednesday to spend some time with my grandmother and great-aunt over Thanksgiving. It’s been a while since I last saw my great-aunt, when we moved her in with my grandmother due to declining health. Well she’s 94, and she lived for eight or nine years by herself after her husband died. Anyway, food drink and merriment were had by all, and now I need to get to sleep if I want to make it to the SED event by 11:00.

Dirty Work

For the first time in somewhere around six months – if not longer – I have successfully cleaned up my bathroom. After looking at its current state of shininess and remembering how it looked on Saturday, I have no idea how I let it get that dirty – I’m sure I was growing both Bird and Swine Flu in there. Oh well – new month, new sheets, new clean bathroom, new start.
